The luckiest among us have two or three summers like this: the perfect hideaway treehouse or fort; cool new pair of sneakers; the discovery of a favorite author and getting lost in those stories; staying outside late and sleeping even later; an ice cream truck that carries the good stuff; practically no obligations, least of all homework; often not knowing or caring what day of the week it is.
